Wiz Khalifa took home the Best New Artist award at the 2011 BET Awards held Sunday night in Los Angeles. Wiz Khalifa‘s rise to fame is attributed to social media sites such as twitter, youtube, etc. When your mom likes songs by Wiz Khalifa, you know he’s big. His rise to fame is apparent with over 9 million “likes” on Facebook and 2 million followers on Twitter, proving he will be around for quite some time. This is a great award for the Pittsburgh native and we’re glad to see him taking home this award. Proof that hard work pays off.
