ECU Drug Charges Dropped Against Wiz Khalifa

Today is Wiz Khalifa’s birthday and this might be the best gift of all for the Pittsburgh rapper. Drug charges from Wiz Khalifa’s arrest last year on Nov. 8 2010 were dropped. Here is an article from reflector:

Drug charges were dropped against a rapper who performed at East Carolina University because the charges were in error at the time of his arrest, the district attorney said Wednesday.
Rapper Cameron Jibril Thomaz, 22, who performs under the stage name Wiz Khalifa, was charged Nov. 8 with trafficking marijuana, maintaining a place for sale of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after his arrest outside Wright Auditorium.
ECU police seized a quantity of marijuana from his tour bus following the performance. Nine others also were booked into the jail on related charges. Marijuana use is a central theme of Thomaz’ performances.
District Attorney Clark Everett determined that the amount of marijuana seized on the bus did not exceed the 10-pound threshold for a trafficking charge.

Wiz Khalifa Talks About Meeting Amber Rose Being An Example and More

Don’t be fooled by the façade. There’s more to Wiz Khalifa than tattoos and medicinal marijuana.
The rapper recently sat down with S2S Publisher Jamie Foster Brown for a one-on-one interview in which he talked about his upbringing, his career and his future with Amber Rose.
After it was all said and done, Wiz left Jamie thinking of him as “smart” with a “good heart.”
“You’re such a wonderful child,” she told him. Find out how he charmed her in the October 2011 issue of Sister 2 Sister, and get an excerpt below.

Jamie: Now let’s get into the girlfriend stuff. You’re a cutie pie. Did you have a lot of girlfriends growing up?
Wiz: (laughs) I didn’t have a lot of girlfriends growing up, just because I was so young; you know.

Jamie: You are young. That’s too funny that you said that. Well, how did you get with Amber?
Wiz: Two great people when they meet up, and when you’re at a certain point in your life, you know, I’m a little bit more mature than people in my age range. I’ve always been able to know when I have a good situation and be able to hold that close to me and not ruin it. Just because I’m young and in my past before I wasn’t always with (just) one girl, or usually rappers aren’t, you know what I’m saying? It’s not really regular for a rapper to be like, “This is my girl and this is the only woman that I’m going to be with.” But it just makes sense to me, and that’s how I really feel. And I just put that out there and everybody who embraces me, they have to embrace that as well.
Jamie: That is amazing that you even said that!
Wiz: (laughs)
Jamie: Because these guys don’t commit to anything today. Who are you?!
Wiz: Who am I? (laughs)
Jamie: Who are you? (laughs)
Wiz: I’m an example. (laughs)
Jamie: I’m just so floored. So, the connection between you and her is just real. Where did you meet her?
Wiz: I met her in L.A. Well, we talked on the Internet first because I was on tour. And she’s designing a sunglasses store, and she was just interested in my look and wanted me to be a part of her line. And it was at a time where she was just really focused on work and I was really just trying to get my stuff off the ground, too, so we were really just focused on business and being cool and stuff like that. But when we met, we hit it off just right away. I just became so interested in her and I didn’t want to spend any time away from her. I always wanted to be around her and she felt the same way, and I ended up just moving out to L.A. and just started my life out there with her.
Jamie: Oh my god! I just have to get up off of the floor!
Wiz: (laughs)

Wiz Khalifa gears up for hometown finish to tour

“I never stop grinding,” Wiz Khalifa said Tuesday afternoon, a few hours before his gig in Indianapolis.
The Pittsburgh rapper seems to have been on the road almost constantly since spring 2010. On Saturday, he wraps up the 40-plus city “Rolling Papers” U.S. tour with a hometown show at the Trib Amphitheater.
“It’s always fun to play in front of the home crowd,” he said.
The shows that stuck out for him on this tour were a June date in San Francisco that sold out the 8,500-capacity Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, and a July 24 show that drew 15,000 fans to the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Md., where Mac Miller, Big K.R.I.T and Curren$y were surprise guests.
Before that, he did a European run, where he said, in terms of the crowd reaction, “it was pretty much exactly the same, which was crazy, because a lot of those countries don’t speak English.”

Wiz Khalifa Interview With Arizona Star

Wiz Khalifa has got to be the most downright positive-thinking person in all of rap music.

“I’m awesome,” he exclaimed when asked how he is doing. “I just wake up with awesomeness on the menu. I eat awesomeness for breakfast. I wash it down with a cup of awesomeness.”

The 23-year-old from Pittsburgh has reason to feel so upbeat. His months-old breakthrough Atlantic Records debut, “Rolling Papers,” already has sold platinum, and the first single off the album, the Pittsburgh Steelers-inspired “Black and Yellow,” has sold more than 3 million copies. This week, he has two songs on Billboard’s hip-hop/rap charts – the exuberantly bright “Roll Up” and “On My Level” featuring fellow rapper Too $hort.

In the eight months since he brought his “Waken Baken” tour to a sold-out Rialto Theatre audience last October, Khalifa has skyrocketed from rising talent to bona fide star. His two-week-old “Rolling Papers World Tour 2011″ with up-and-comer Big Sean takes him to midsize arenas and amphitheaters around the country for most of the summer. (The Tucson stop at Casino del Sol’s AVA Wednesday is a co-production between the Rialto and Phoenix promoter Universatile Music.)

“The smaller show is more intimate. You get to see me closer so my movements and what I do might be a little bit different,” he said during a phone interview last week. “But when it’s a bigger stage with screens and lights and things to entertain the people way, way in the back, there’s more of a show, more of a production and more of an experience. We’re giving people their money’s worth and then some. That’s the main idea, to make the show bigger and better.”

Much of his rap centers on marijuana, which he admits to regularly smoking. His “Rolling Papers” album cover shows him shrouded in a smoky haze.

How much of that persona is real and how much is to nurture the image?
“I’m smoking weed right now,” he said. “It’s pretty real.”

Do you worry that you will be targeted by police because you are so open about smoking?
“Nah. It’s just weed, and at the end of the day Willie Nelson is Lord knows how old still smoking weed and still singing about it and still traveling with it. If I could at least get that sort of love, I’d be straight.”

Is it true Willie slipped you a joint in New York?
“Yep. He rolled it with his own two hands and passed it to Snoop Dogg and Snoop Dogg in turn passed it to me.”

There was some talk of you and Willie working together.
“Yeah, absolutely, me and Willie Nelson are going to get (together). I want to write songs with him and make some really, really unique stuff.”

Do you have a timetable?
“Nah. You know, just whenever it happens, whenever it’s natural. He’s always touring and he’s really busy, and I’m running my records and doing what I’m doing. But I think there’s going to be some chill time when we both could just get a huge bowl of pot and just do it.”

Has this newfound fame changed you any?
“No it hasn’t changed me at all. I kind of expected it. I wanted it to happen because that’s what the ideal plan is, to start off kind of below the radar then release something then kind of build up a little more, build up a little bit more. Then finally put the album out and that’s when the craze starts. I was hoping for that kind of reaction, and when I got it was like cool. Now I’m on the next level, the next phase, which is building upon what people already know me for and the character they see me as.”

Is the character the real Wiz Khalifa?
“Absolutely. You know, carefree, really just outgoing, fun-loving dude. I want to make other people’s lives easier. … I keep everything around me loose.”

And that comes through in your music.
“Yeah, definitely a lot of fun. That’s why you hear me laugh so much on there because I’m really laughing in the booth, having fun while I’m recording. … My fans get to come and completely be themselves and feel comfortable and don’t feel like they gotta hold back or be too cool.”

Is there any tension between you and Big Sean because of Kanye West? (Back story: Khalifa is dating West’s ex, Amber Rose, and tour mate Big Sean is a West protégé.)
“Absolutely no tension. I have (Big Sean) on the tour because he’s such a good friend of mine. And there’s no tension between me and Kanye, but anything that people think could be funny there has been squashed by us going on tour together. And Kanye has actually even told Sean, ‘I’m down with you and Wiz doing music because you’re friends, and if he’s your friend, then we all looking out for each other, and that’s all good.’”

Are you and Kanye friends?
“I never met Kanye. I haven’t talked to him personally at all. I’m not an associate of his. I’m not saying we’re not friends or anything; we just never associated.”

So have you found your true love in Amber Rose?
“Absolutely.”

How does your show translate to a bigger venue?
“We’ve got the DJ and the lights. We got the confetti cannons that go off. Everything is fine-tuned and precise. It’s a real production. … It’s crazy.”

Do you like Tucson?
“I love Tucson. I love Arizona in general because you have great scenery out there. … I can’t wait to come visit you guys.”

Wiz Khalifa will return to the burgh Saturday, August 6th for his first home show since December of last year. Fan Runs On Stage And Gets Tackled By Breezo

This is a perfect example of what not to do at a Wiz Khalifa concert. Last night Wiz played in Lake Tahoe during his set a fan decided it was a good idea to run on stage, obviously he doesn’t know much about Wiz’s body guard Brezzo. Breezo is a giant and you wouldn’t want this to happen to you, fast forward to the 26 second mark to see the tackle lol.
